Fucibet cream is a combination treatment for eczema and dermatitis, as well as many bacterial skin conditions. It contains two active ingredients that work together to treat the skin condition; betamethasone valerate and fusidic acid. Betamethasone valerate is the steroid component that reduces inflammation, redness and itching, whilst fusidic acid is the antibacterial component that eradicates bacteria. Fucibet cream is typically used for a short-term course of around one or two weeks.

Fucibet cream is used topically to help relieve infections in eczema and psoriasis. Fucibet contains betamethasone, which helps to reduce inflammation and itching, as well as fusidic acid, which removes bacteria from the infected area.

What is Fucibet cream used for?
Fucibet cream uses include effective relief for cases of skin inflammation where there is also infection present. This makes Fucibet’s primary use is to treat cases of infected eczema, and is also effective for treating infected psoriasis.
Can I use other Eczema treatments with Fucibet cream?
You can combine Fucibet cream with your usual emollient eczema treatments to keep your skin hydrated and prevent further irritation from drying and cracking.
Can I use Fucibet while I am pregnant?
It is not recommended to use Fucibet while pregnant. Fucibet can be used by mothers who are breastfeeding, as long as the cream is not applied directly to the breast.
Does Fucibet cream help with scars?
Fucibet is not strictly designed as a cream to reduce scarring – it is an antibiotic treatment for infected eczema and associated conditions.
There is always a risk of side effects with all medications. Some of these can be quite mild and can subside over time. Others are more serious and should be reported to your GP right away if you experience any side effects. Common side effects of Fucibet cream include:
- Inflamed hair follicles
- Excessive hair growth
- Rash or irritation at the site of application
