Paracetamol 500mg is a versatile pain killer used for a whole host of conditions and to control temperature. Easy to dissolve in water, Paracetamol 500mg is excellent for anyone who finds it tricky to swallow solid, regular tablets or capsules. It offers rapid, effective symptomatic relief of headaches, migraines, period pains, and muscular aches and helps lessen the temperature in flu, colds, and sore throats. It's suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over, and each effervescent tablet contains 500mg of the active ingredient paracetamol.

- Adults and children 16 and over: 1 to 2 tablets every 6 hours, up to 8 tablets in 24 hours. Children 12 to 15: 1 tablet every 6 hours, up to 4 tablets in 24 hours

Paracetamol 500mg is a painkiller that is used for a variety of conditions, as well as a treatment for fever. The versatility of paracetamol is such that it can treat a minor headache and cold to a more complex condition such as maintenance of arthritis and rheumatism. This type of paracetamol presents as effervescent tablets, meaning they should be placed in a small volume of water and dissolved before drinking the liquid.
If you take the correct dosage, Paracetamol very rarely causes side effects.
However, if you notice anything unusual or you're concerned about a side effect, contact your GP or pharmacist.
Important warnings:
- Do not take with any other medicine that contains paracetamol.
- Taking more than the recommended dose can cause serious liver damage. Get medical help straight away if you take too much, even if you feel well.
- Do not drink alcohol while taking these tablets. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist first if you have liver or kidney problems.
- Each tablet contains 439 mg of sodium. Speak to your doctor or pharmacist first if you are on a low-sodium diet.
- Contains aspartame (20 mg per tablet), a source of phenylalanine. Not suitable if you have phenylketonuria (PKU).
How much paracetamol can I take?
For adults and children aged 16 and over, the dose is one or two tablets every 6 hours when required, up to 8 tablets in 24 hours. Children aged 12 to 15 can take one tablet every 6 hours, up to 4 tablets in 24 hours. Not suitable for children under 12. For oral administration only.

Can I take paracetamol long-term?
No. Paracetamol effervescent tablets are for short-term use only. Speak to a doctor if your pain or fever lasts for more than 3 days, or if it gets worse. Do not take more than 8 tablets in 24 hours, do not take any other paracetamol-containing products at the same time, and do not drink alcohol while taking them, as too much paracetamol can cause serious liver damage.
