Viagra Connect is a drug used to help increase the flow of blood to the penis in men who have difficulty getting or maintaining an erection, following sexual arousal. Taking it can help you enjoy a healthier sex life and reclaim intimacy.

When to Use Viagra Connect Tablets?

Viagra Connect tablets are highly effective medicines that treat ED in men who are 18 and over. If any of the following apply, you might find that Viagra Connect is a beneficial treatment:

  • Erectile Dysfunction: Viagra Connect isn't suitable for men without erection problems.
  • Sexual Stimulation: Viagra tablets don't cause erections alone, so you'll need to be aroused for them to work. If you struggle to get aroused, you may require an alternative treatment.
  • Medical Advice: Viagra Connect is available without a medical prescription, but you'll need an assessment first to determine whether it's suitable for you.

Viagra Connect Tablets Age Restrictions

Viagra Connect is suitable for adult men aged 18 and over. However, women shouldn't use Viagra as it's not designed for them.

How to Use Viagra Connect?

Viagra Connect is a pharmacy medicine; you'll need to complete an assessment before a prescriber issues it. Please always follow the instructions before using it:

  • Please take one 50mg tablet when needed. You should never exceed more than one tablet in 24 hours.
  • You should take the tablet with water around one hour before you plan to have sexual intercourse.
  • While you can take Viagra Connect with or without food, consuming a high-fat meal could mean that the medicine takes longer to work.
  • Foreplay is essential, as Viagra won't work unless you're aroused. However, it will usually take effect within 30 to 60 minutes. The effects can last for up to four hours.
  • If Viagra Connect doesn't work instantly, you should persevere and ensure you're suitably aroused.

When to Avoid Using Viagra Connect?

Viagra Connect is mostly an effective medication, but there are some cases when it may be best to avoid it. These include:

  • No Erectile Dysfunction: Viagra isn't a treatment that will enhance your sex life; it's for erectile dysfunction. If you don't have a diagnosis, you shouldn't take it.
  • Medical Conditions: Individuals with severe health problems, such as cardiovascular disease or recent strokes, should avoid using Viagra unless a medical professional recommends otherwise.
  • Low Blood Pressure: Sildenafil - the active ingredient in Viagra Connect - can cause the blood pressure to decrease, so your symptoms can worsen if you already have low blood pressure.
  • Nitrate Medicines: If you're using nitrate medications, you shouldn't take Viagra, as it can lead to fatal drops in blood pressure.

Precautions for Viagra Connect

If you're taking other medications, you should always seek medical advice before taking Viagra, as it may cause some interactions.

Individuals with blood cell disorders may be at higher risk of experiencing a painful and prolonged erection (also known as priapism).

You should also avoid drinking excessive amounts of alcohol when using Viagra, as it can increase the risks of side effects.

Viagra Connect Ingredients

Viagra Connect tablets have the active ingredient of sildenafil citrate (50mg). As a PDE5 inhibitor, it increases blood flow to the penis, which helps men achieve and maintain erections.

Inactive ingredients include:

  • Microcrystalline cellulose
  • Calcium hydrogen phosphate (anhydrous)
  • Magnesium stearate
  • Hypromellose
  • Croscarmellose sodium
  • Lactose
  • Titanium dioxide (E171)
  • Indigo carmine aluminium lake (E132)

Side Effects of Viagra Connect

There is always a risk of side effects with all medications, and this erectile dysfunction medication is no exception. Some of these can be quite mild and can subside over time. Others are more serious and should be reported to your GP immediately if you experience any side effects. Please contact a member of our team if you are concerned about any potential side effects that may occur when taking Viagra Connect.

Common side effects may include:

  • Nosebleeds
  • Dizziness
  • Nausea
  • Flushing
  • Headaches
  • Runny/stuffed nose
  • Red and/or warm skin
  • Diarrhoea
  • Muscle pain or back pain

The side effects listed below are of a serious nature; you should stop taking Viagra Connect, and report these to your GP immediately.

  • Sudden vision loss in both eyes or one eye. Sudden vision loss in both eyes or one eye can be a sign of a serious eye problem called non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy.
  • An erection that will not go away (priapism). If you have an erection that lasts more than 4 hours, get medical help immediately. Priapism can cause permanent damage to your penis.
  • Sudden hearing decrease or hearing loss. Some men may also have ringing in their ears (tinnitus) or dizziness.
How long does Viagra Connect take to treat erectile dysfunction? How long will it last?

Viagra Connect starts to work around 30 minutes for erectile dysfunction; however, it can produce an effect anywhere between 20 and 60 minutes after being taken. Other factors, such as food and alcohol, can influence the time it takes to work and produce the desired effects. Consuming Viagra Connect with a high-fat meal or a high amount of alcohol will delay how long it takes for Viagra Connect to work and may be less effective.

How regularly can I take Viagra Connect for erectile dysfunction?

Although Viagra Connect can typically be taken as often as required, it is recommended not to take more than one erectile dysfunction medication treatment in 24 hours. It is also not recommended to take Viagra Connect for more than four days a week.

What happens if Viagra Connect doesn’t work for erectile dysfunction?

In some cases, it can take many different attempts of using Viagra Connect before it is effective for erectile dysfunction. If Viagra Connect does not initially work for erectile dysfunction, it is recommended to take it on eight separate occasions before increasing the strength or trying an alternative erectile dysfunction medication. Alternative erectile dysfunction treatments include Tadalafil (Cialis), Vardenafil, and Levitra.

Can I buy Viagra Connect online if I have heart problems?

Viagra Connect should always be used with caution in men with heart problems. Viagra Connect can put the heart under increased strain by causing the blood vessels that supply the heart to widen, which results in increased blood flow into the heart.

Whether Viagra Connect is suitable or not will depend on a number of individual circumstances and your symptoms, as well as their severity.

Can I drink alcohol while taking Viagra Connect?

Yes, you can drink alcohol in moderation, but excessive intake can increase the risks of side effects. Many men find that alcohol naturally impacts their ability to achieve and sustain an erection, so you may find that reducing your intake enhances your sex life.

Is Viagra Connect suitable for everyone?

No, Viagra Connect isn't suitable for all men. If you have certain medical conditions or are using nitrate medicines, you should avoid it. We'll ask you to complete a short assessment before administering Viagra Connect to determine that it's suitable for you.

Can I take Viagra Connect with other medications?

It depends on the medications you're taking, as some can cause side effects and interact with Viagra. You should read the information leaflet carefully before using it and ask your healthcare provider if you're unsure about any medications you're taking.

How should I store Viagra Connect?

Please store Viagra Connect in a cool and dry place, keeping it below 30°C at all times. You should also ensure it's out of reach of children and pets.
