Dosage
Clenil Modulite 50 micrograms
The common starting dose is:
- Adults and the elderly: 200 micrograms (4 puffs) twice a day
- Children: 100 micrograms (2 puffs) twice a day
Usually the most you would take in a day is:
- Adults and the elderly: 800 micrograms (16 puffs)
- Children: 400 micrograms (8 puffs)
The total daily dose may be divided into 2, 3 or 4 doses per day.
Clenil Modulite 100 micrograms
The common starting dose is:
- Adults and the elderly: 200 micrograms (2 puffs) twice a day
- Children: 100 micrograms (one puff) twice a day
Usually the most you would take in a day is:
- Adults and the elderly: 800 micrograms (8 puffs)
- Children: 400 micrograms (4 puffs)

The common starting dose is:

What is Clenil Modulite?
Clenil Modulite is a brown preventer inhaler. It contains an inhaled corticosteroid that reduces inflammation in the airways to help prevent asthma symptoms like coughing, wheezing and difficulty breathing.
Clenil Modulite is not a reliever inhaler, and therefore should not be used to treat asthma symptoms once they have started. It's also not suitable to use to relieve sudden asthma attacks (asthma attacks can be very dangerous and require immediate medical attention).
If you experience an asthma attack with severe difficulty breathing, use your reliever inhaler (Ventolin, Salbutamol etc) according to the instructions on the label.
Will a Clenil Modulite inhaler help to treat an Asthma attack?
There are two types of inhaler: preventers and relievers. Preventer inhalers such as Clenil Modulite are used daily to control inflammation in the airways, it helps to reduce the risk of an asthma attack occurring.
Clenil modulite inhalers will not provide relief from an asthma attack.
Does Clenil Modulite work immediately to limit asthma symptoms?
The active ingredient in a clenil inhaler starts to work immediately, however you will likely only begin to notice an improvement in your breathing problems within a week of daily use.
Should I be getting this bad taste in my mouth?
If you are using your Clenil Modulite inhaler correctly, the medicine should be going straight into your lungs. This requires that you correctly time your inhalation and activating the device. If your technique is incorrect, the medicine may remain in your mouth and leave a bad taste.

How to use a Clenil Modulite inhaler properly

1. If you haven't used the inhaler for a few days, e.g. three or more days, release one puff to make sure it is working
2. If this is the first time you're using the inhaler, make sure the dose indicator reads what your doctor has prescribed
3. Stand or sit comfortably
4. Remove the mouthpiece cover gently from the inhaler
5. Shake the inhaler
6. Hold the inhaler upright, placing your thumb underneath the mouthpiece
7. Exhale as far as is comfortable
8. Position the mouthpiece between your teeth and close your lips around it - but do not bite it
9. Inhale through your mouth and depress the top of the canister as you breathe deeply
10. Hold your breath for a few seconds, or as long as is comfortable
11. If you're taking another puff, keep the inhaler upright and wait 30 seconds between doses, before repeating above steps
12. Remove the inhaler from your mouth and replace the mouthpiece cover
