Maxalt melt is the branded form of Rizatriptan and the oro-dispersible form of Maxalt. Whilst it is the same strength as its generic form, it presents itself in tablet form that is designed to dissolve on the tongue. This medication can alleviate the symptoms of a migraine; it does not treat it. It belongs to a family of medication called triptans. They work by reducing the pain signals which are sent to the brain by blocking certain receptors. It also helps reduce the effects of nausea and sensitivity to stimulus, such as light. This medication is effective when taken at the earliest opportunity from when a migraine begins.
- Effective pain relief upon onset
- Treatment for migraine
