Rizatriptan is an oral medication used for migraines. Whilst this medication can alleviate the symptoms of a migraine; it does not treat it. It belongs to a family of medication called triptans. They work by reducing the pain signals which are sent to the brain by blocking specific receptors. It also helps reduce the effects of nausea and sensitivity to stimulus, such as light.
