Dovobet Gel

Dovobet gel treats scalp psoriasis flare-ups. It alleviates irritation and itchiness, soothes dry skin, and lessens inflammation associated with psoriasis Vulgaris. Dovobet contains a potent steroid and artificial form of Vitamin D, reducing skin cell creation and relieving psoriasis symptoms. It contains two active ingredients in each gram of gel: 0.5 mg of betamethasone (as dipropionate) and 50 micrograms of calcipotriol.

  • Powerful corticosteroid relieves scalp psoriasis
  • Calcipotriol slows down the speed of skin cell growth
  • Apply once a day to ease symptoms

Buy Dovobet Gel Online

Available to adults in gel and ointment forms, Dovobet contains a powerful corticosteroid that can effectively treat flare-ups of mild to moderate psoriasis, even on the scalp. Just one application per day can ease irritation, reduce inflammation, and soothe dry, flaky skin.

When to use Dovobet Gel and Ointment

Dovobet Gel and Dovobet Ointment are effective treatments for psoriasis, which causes red and scaly patches on the skin and scalp. If you suffer from discomfort due to your condition, applying Dovobet can improve symptoms and soothe your skin.

Dovobet gel can be used on the scalp and on other areas of the body affected by mild to moderate plaque psoriasis. If you're unsure, our pharmacists can help you choose.

Age Restrictions:

Dovobet is not recommended for people under 18.

How to use Dovobet Gel:

  • Apply a thin layer of gel to the affected areas once a day, avoiding contact with the genitals, eyes, and face.
  • Remember to wash your hands thoroughly after applying the treatment.
  • Use the gel for up to 4 weeks on the scalp and up to 8 weeks on other areas. If you need to continue or restart treatment after this, your doctor will need to review it first.
  • Do not use more than 15 g a day of Dovobet or other products containing calcipotriol, and do not treat more than 30% of your body. On the scalp, 1 g to 4 g a day is usually enough (4 g is about one teaspoon).
  • If you experience any side effects, including burning and irritation, please cease use of the product and seek medical attention.

When to Avoid Using Dovobet

Avoid using this medication if:

  • You are allergic to betamethasone, calcipotriol, or any elements in Dovobet
  • Suffer from a condition linked with calcium metabolism.
  • Suffer from skin lesions around the mouth (perioral dermatitis), dry, scaly skin (ichthyosis), broken skin, ulcers, acne, or rosacea.
  • Suffer from erythrodermic, exfoliative or pustular psoriasis.
  • Suffer from viral infections like varicella. (chickenpox), herpes simplex, and vaccinia.
  • Suffer from viral, fungal, or bacterial skin infections.
  • You have fragile veins in the skin
  • You have stretch marks or thin skin.
  • Suffer from skin conditions connected with syphilis or tuberculosis skin lesions.

Precautions

Before using Dovobet for psoriasis Vulgaris, you should take the time to read and understand everything in the Patient Information Leaflet. Additionally, you should take note of the following warnings:

  • Do not smoke or get close to naked flames when using Dovobet, as it may be flammable. And since it can soak into your clothing and/or bedding, you should wash those things more frequently to be safe.
  • After applying Dovobet gel, you should avoid exposing the treated skin to large amounts of sunlight or artificial UV light.
  • If you have guttate psoriasis, or severe kidney or liver problems, speak to a doctor before using Dovobet, as its use in these conditions has not been studied.
  • Dovobet should not be applied to broken skin, ulcers, or areas affected by skin conditions such as acne or rosacea.
  • Dovobet contains betamethasone, a steroid that should not be applied to skin infected by bacteria, viruses, parasites, or fungus.
  • If you are taking or using any other medicine (prescribed or non-prescribed), speak to a doctor or pharmacist before using Dovobet.

Pregnancy and Breastfeeding

There is no adequate data for use during pregnancy. Studies in animals with glucocorticoids have shown a level of toxicity, but the impact of this in humans is uncertain. Therefore, Dovobet should only be used in pregnant females if the benefits of therapy outweigh the potential risks to the unborn foetus.

Betamethasone can pass into breast milk, but at therapeutic doses, it is not known to be harmful. There is no data on the excretion of calcipotriol in breast milk. Dovobet Gel should be prescribed with caution to breastfeeding mothers. The gel should not be used on the breasts if the mother is breastfeeding.

How do I use Dovobet?

Apply Dovobet to affected areas once a day. Be sure to use it only on your psoriasis and avoid using it on unaffected areas. Avoid applying Dovobet to your genitals or face. We recommend using this gel for four weeks on scalp areas and eight weeks for non-scalp areas.

Is Dovobet suitable for me?

Before buying Dovobet online, we'll ask you whether you're currently taking other medications, either prescription-based or non-prescription-based. Dovobet already contains a potent steroid, so you must not use other steroid treatments at the same time, especially on the same area.

Can Dovobet Gel be used to treat eczema?

Dovobet Gel is formulated to treat and manage psoriasis. It's not licensed to treat eczema. However, there are alternative treatments that effectively treat eczema.

How effective is Dovobet Gel for plaque psoriasis?

Dovobet Gel is a highly effective treatment for plaque psoriasis. It combines Vitamin D and a corticosteroid to reduce skin inflammation and plaques. The calcipotriol (a vitamin D form) helps normalise skin cell growth, while the betamethasone reduces inflammation.

Is Dovobet Gel safe on sensitive areas like the face or scalp?

You can use the gel on your scalp, but due to its steroid content, it's not recommended near the genitals, eyes, and face.

How soon can I expect results from using Dovobet Gel?

Most people notice minor improvements within a couple of weeks, but it can take several weeks to see clear results. If your symptoms don't improve, please contact your GP for advice or ask a registered pharmacist about alternative treatments.

Is Dovobet Gel safe for long-term use in chronic psoriasis?

As a steroid treatment, we don't recommend long-term Dovobet usage. Instead, follow your doctor's instructions and never exceed the advised treatment duration.

Can Dovobet Gel be used alongside moisturisers for psoriasis treatment?

You can use a moisturiser with Dovobet Gel, which keeps your skin hydrated and reduces discomfort.

How often should I apply Dovobet Gel during a flare-up?

All flare-ups are different, and the frequency with which you apply Dovobet depends on how severe your condition is and what your doctor advises.

Can Dovobet Gel prevent new psoriasis plaques?

No. Dovobet Gel treats existing psoriasis plaques and is not licensed to prevent new ones. It is used in courses of up to 4 weeks on the scalp and 8 weeks on other areas, and if you need further treatment after that, your doctor will need to review it first.

Can improper use of Dovobet Gel worsen eczema or psoriasis?

If you frequently apply Dovobet or use a lot of it, there's a higher risk of stretch marks, thinning skin, and even acne.

What should I do if my psoriasis doesn't improve after using Dovobet Gel?

If your condition doesn't improve after your treatment, please contact your GP, who can suggest alternative treatments.

Does Dovobet Gel reduce redness and scaling in psoriasis?

Yes, it is effective in addressing redness and scaling by controlling inflammation and slowing excessive skin cell growth.
