Rigevidon
Rigevidon is an oral contraceptive pill that effectively stops pregnancy. It contains artificial versions of the body's naturally-produced female sex hormones (oestrogen and progesterone), it inhibits the ovaries from releasing an egg. It also thickens the womb's natural mucus. It's suitable for many women from their first period to the menopause, subject to a health check, and contains two active ingredients: Levonorgestrel and ethinylestradiol.
- Rigevidon pill is for female use only
- Used for contraceptive purposes
- Combined oral contraceptive pill
Combined contraceptive pills can be used to prevent pregnancy, and when taken correctly is 99% effective. However, many women also choose to take them to regulate their period, help with heavy periods, reduce period pain, and reduce acne.

Most combined contraceptive pills are taken for 21 days with a seven-day break, where there is often a breakthrough bleed, which usually appears as a period and is normal.
Other pills are taken for 28 days without a break. These can often stop regular menstruation from occurring or can help to lighten heavy periods.
Before taking oral contraceptives, it is important to measure your weight, as well as take readings of your blood pressure, as these can affect which pill is best for you. You can purchase home blood pressure kits or visit a local pharmacy to get a free blood pressure check. You will also be asked questions regarding your health history, including migraines, smoking, a family history of stroke or heart attack, and breast cancer.
There is always a risk of side effects with all medications, including the combined oral contraceptive. Some of these can be quite mild and can subside over time. What should I do if I miss a dose of the Rigevidon pill?
If you miss a dose of the Rigevidon pill, you should take it as soon as you remember, even if this means taking two pills in one day, then carry on at the usual time. If the pill is 12 hours late or less, you are still protected from pregnancy. If it is more than 12 hours late, your protection may be reduced, and what you need to do depends on which week of the pack you are in. In week 1, use extra contraception such as condoms for the next 7 days. In week 2, you do not need extra contraception if you took your pills correctly in the 7 days before the missed pill; otherwise use condoms for 7 days. In week 3, either start the next pack straight after finishing this one with no 7-day break, or stop taking pills for up to 7 days (counting the missed days) and then start the next pack. If you have missed more than one pill, ask your doctor for advice.
When should I start taking the Rigevidon pill?
After you buy Rigevidon online, you need to take it on the first day of your period. If you start on the first day of your period, you will be protected from pregnancy straight away. If you start on day 2 to 5 of your period, you will also need to use another method of contraception such as condoms for the first seven pill-taking days. If you begin later in your cycle, you will need to use other methods of protection like condoms.
Can I use this combined pill when breastfeeding?
Rigevidon should not be taken while you are breastfeeding. A progestogen-only (mini) pill may be more suitable. Speak to a member of the team about the options available to you.
Can the combined pill cause breast cancer?
Some types of the pill have been linked to an increased risk of developing breast cancer. If you have a family history of breast cancer, our dedicated team can help you choose a contraceptive option that is appropriate for you.
Do contraceptive pills cause weight gain?
Side effects differ from person to person when using oral contraceptives. Weight gain may occur but can be managed with regular exercise and a balanced diet.
Will this combined oral contraceptive pill affect my fertility?
Normal fertility resumes as soon as you stop taking contraceptive pills.
