How to Use Spedra Tablets?

Please follow the instructions when using Spedra. Because it's a fast-acting medicine, it's essential to understand the importance of preparation and timing:

• Dosage: The standard starting dose is 100mg. Depending on how well it works and how you get on with it, your prescriber might increase it to 200mg or reduce it to 50mg. If you already take an alpha-blocker, you will usually start on 50mg. If you take a moderate CYP3A4 inhibitor (see below), the maximum dose is 100mg.
• Timing: Take 100mg or 200mg approximately 15 to 30 minutes before sexual activity, or 50mg about 30 minutes before.
• How to Take: You can take Spedra with or without food, but if you take it with food it may take longer to start working. You should avoid heavy drinking and grapefruit juice as both can increase the risks of side effects.

When to Avoid Using Spedra Tablets?

Spedra is safe and effective in most cases, but there are some situations where you should avoid it. These include:

• Medications: If you're currently taking nitrate medicines, use amyl nitrite ("poppers") or another nitric oxide donor, or take riociguat, you shouldn't use Spedra. You also shouldn't use it with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors: HIV medicines such as ritonavir, indinavir, saquinavir, nelfinavir or atazanavir; antifungals such as ketoconazole, itraconazole or voriconazole; the antibiotics clarithromycin or telithromycin; or nefazodone. If you take a moderate CYP3A4 inhibitor, such as erythromycin, diltiazem, fluconazole or verapamil, the maximum dose is 100mg, with at least 48 hours between doses.
• Medical Conditions: If you've had a stroke, heart attack or life-threatening irregular heartbeat in the past six months, Spedra isn't suitable for you. The same applies if you have low blood pressure (below 90/50 mmHg), uncontrolled high blood pressure (above 170/100 mmHg), unstable angina or angina during sex, or heart failure (NYHA class 2 or above). This also applies to people with a serious cardiac problem.
• Serious Liver or Kidney Disease: People with severe kidney or liver disease should also avoid Spedra.
• Eye Problems: If you have ever lost sight in one eye because of NAION (non-arteritic anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy), or an inherited eye disease such as retinitis pigmentosa runs in your family, you shouldn't use Spedra.
• Allergies: If you're allergic to avanafil or any of the other ingredients, you shouldn't use Spedra.

Precautions For Spedra

Drinking alcohol at the same time as taking Spedra may increase your heart rate and lower your blood pressure. You may feel dizzy (especially when standing), have a headache or feel your heart beating in your chest (palpitations). Drinking alcohol may also decrease your ability to get an erection.

It's also important to avoid grapefruit juice within 24 hours before taking Spedra, as it can increase the medicine's concentration in your body, which increases side effects.

Talk to your doctor or pharmacist before taking Spedra if you have ever had an erection lasting 4 hours or more, or have a condition such as sickle cell disease, multiple myeloma or leukaemia that makes this more likely; if you have a condition that affects the shape of your penis, such as angulation, Peyronie's disease or cavernosal fibrosis; or if you have a bleeding disorder or an active stomach (peptic) ulcer.

Tell your doctor if you take an alpha-blocker, for prostate problems or high blood pressure. Taking it with Spedra can lower your blood pressure, and you will usually start on the 50mg dose.

Do not use Spedra together with other treatments for erectile dysfunction, such as sildenafil, tadalafil or vardenafil.

Spedra can make you feel dizzy or affect your vision. If this happens, do not drive, cycle, or use tools or machines.
