FAQ

  • How do I use Vicks VapoRub?

    Rub on technique
Adults: Apply a generous layer of Vicks VapoRub on the throat, back and chest. Massage thoroughly across the entire area and wear loose-fitting bed clothes so that you breathe in the vapours easily.

Children aged two and above: Carefully apply a thin layer onto the chest and back. Wear loose-fitting pyjamas for comfortable inhalation.

    Inhalation technique
Adults and children aged 12 plus: Let two teaspoons of Vicks VapoRub dissolve in hot water, then breathe in the steam. Avoid the inhalation technique for children below the age of two.

  • Is it okay to put Vicks on your nose?

No. You should never apply Vicks VapoRub on your nose. Vicks VapoRub contains camphor, and if applied topically through broken skin or mucous membranes, this has a toxic effect. Avoid applying this product in or around your nostrils, particularly those of a small child. Also, do not put Vicks VapoRub near your eye, as if the ointment gets inside, it may harm your cornea.

  • Where do you rub Vicks VapoRub for a cough?

To help your cough symptoms, apply a liberal layer of Vicks VapoRub on your throat and chest. If you like, put a warm cloth on top. Ensure you wear loose clothing around your chest and throat to enable the vapours to enter your mouth and nose.
