FAQ

  • How do I use Galpharm Max Strength Cold and Flu?

Fill a mug with the contents of one sachet. Pour in some hot (not boiling) water. Mix until the contents dissolve and leave to cool so it's at a drinkable temperature.

Adults, the elderly and children 12 years and above: Use one sachet every four to six hours as and when needed, but don't use any more than four sachets (four doses) in any 24-hour period. Leave a minimum of between four and six hours per dose.

Avoid giving to children under 12 years.

  • How do these all-in-one sachets work?

Galpharm Max Strength Sachets include two ingredients: paracetamol (a painkiller) and phenylephrine hydrochloride (a decongestant). Paracetamol relieves pain by reducing the production of prostaglandins in the brain and spinal cord, which may improve your pain threshold so that, while the reason for the pain stays, you don't feel it as much.

Phenylephrine, a nasal decongestant, lessens swelling in your nasal passages, reducing congestion so you can breathe more easily.

Guaifenesin thins the mucus or phlegm in the lungs if you have congestion from a cold or flu.

  • Is it safe to take Max Strength Cold Flu Sachets if I'm pregnant?

Max Strength Cold Flu Sachets should be avoided during pregnancy. This is because phenylephrine has blood vessel narrowing effects that may limit blood flow to the placenta or trigger issues for women with a history of preeclampsia. Speak to your GP or Pharmacy Online pharmacist for directions on how to treat cold and flu symptoms while pregnant.

  • Can I take Max Strength Cold Flu Sachets if I'm breastfeeding?

No studies have been done to detect whether phenylephrine passes into breast milk or its impact on a nursing infant. If taken by mouth, decongestants such as phenylephrine may also temporarily reduce breast milk production with just one or two doses. Avoid using if you are breastfeeding. Seek further advice from your doctor or Pharmacy Online pharmacist.

  • Can I take Max Strength Cold Flu Sachets with other medications?

If taking other medications, speak to your pharmacist before using a Cold and Flu sachet to ensure the formula is safe.
