    Sudafed Mucus Relief Triple Action Cold & Flu Tablets relieve head colds and influenza (the flu) symptoms, such as blocked nose, body aches, sore throat, fever, chesty coughs, and headache. They contain paracetamol, a painkiller, which helps reduce your temperature due to fever; while guaifenesin, an expectorant, loosens mucus and dislodges phlegm. Phenylephrine, a decongestant, brings down swelling in your nose to help you breathe more comfortably. They're suitable for adults and children aged 12 and over and contain phenylephrine, guaifenesin, and paracetamol.

  • How do I take Sudafed Mucus Relief Triple Action Cold & Flu Tablets?

    Swallow the tablets with water but do not chew. 

    Adults, the elderly and children aged 12 or above:

    • Swallow two tablets every four hours.
    • Do not consume more than eight tablets (four doses) in 24 hours.
    • Do not give to children below 12 years.
    • Never take any more than the recommended dose.
    • Please read the enclosed leaflet carefully.

    If you don't feel better within three days or your symptoms worsen, contact your doctor or pharmacist. Seek immediate medical advice if you suspect you've taken an overdose, despite feeling alright due to the risk of extreme liver damage. 

  • What ingredients does this medication contain?

    It contains the active ingredients phenylephrine hydrochloride, paracetamol, and guaifenesin. It also contains hypromellose, stearic acid, povidone, microcrystalline cellulose, and polyethylene glycol.

     

  • Who can't take this medication?

    Avoid taking this medication if:

    • You have an allergy to paracetamol, guaifenesin, phenylephrine or any other ingredients in this medication.
    • You're taking medication under the supervision of a doctor.
    • You're taking other paracetamol-containing products.
    • You're taking flu, cold or decongestant products.
    • You take antidepressants like amitriptyline medicines (tricyclic).
    • You have circulatory disorders.
    • You drink alcohol.
    • You have an extreme heart condition.
    • You have diabetes.
    • You have an overactive thyroid.
    • You have heart or circulatory problems.
    • You have lower blood pressure.
    • You have high blood pressure (hypertension).
    • You have issues urinating.
    • You have glaucoma.
    • You're taking antidepressant drugs known as monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs), including medicines like phenelzine and isocarboxazid. 
    • You're currently taking other decongestant drugs or stimulants, like ephedrine, amfetamines and xylometazoline.

Side Effects

Most people don't notice any side effects while taking this medication. But, if you notice any of the following side effects or anything else unusual, discontinue taking the medication promptly, and see your doctor or pharmacist.

Rare side effects include:

  • Allergic reactions such as a skin rash.
  • Gastrointestinal upsets.
  • Coolness or tingling on the skin.

  • Insomnia (sleep trouble).
