    Nurofen for Children Orange Flavour Suspension is an over-the-counter pain reliever and fever reducer for children 3 months and older.

    It contains the active ingredient ibuprofen, which is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). NSAIDs work by blocking the production of prostaglandins, which are chemicals that cause inflammation and pain.

    Nurofen for Children Orange Flavour Suspension is available in a liquid suspension that is easy for children to swallow. It is also flavored with orange to make it more palatable.

    Nurofen for Children Orange Flavour Suspension can be used to treat a variety of conditions in children, including:

    • Fever
    • Teething pain
    • Earache

  • What are the ingredients in Nurofen for Children orange flavour oral suspension?

    The active ingredient is Ibuprofen 100 mg/5ml (equivalent to 2.0% w/v).

    The other ingredient with known effect is Maltitol Liquid: 2226 mg (2.26 g) per 5 ml

  • What is the dosage instructions for Nurofen for children?

    Fever caused by immunisation:

    Babies and children 3 months and over weighing more than 5kg:

    • One 2.5ml if necessary give second 2.5ml dose 6hrs later.
    • Do not give more than 2 doses in a 24 hour period.
    • If the fever is not reduced, consult your doctor.

    Fever, Pain and Symptoms of Cold and Flu:

    • 3 - 6 months weighing over 5kg: One 2.5ml dose 3 times a day. Do not use for more than 24 hours. If symptoms persist after 24 hours or worsen, consult your doctor.
    • 6 - 12 months: One 2.5ml dose 3 or 4 times in 24 hrs
    • 1 - 3 years: One 5ml dose 3 times in 24 hrs
    • 4 - 6 years: One 7.5ml (5ml + 2.5ml) dose 3 times in 24 hrs
    • 7 - 9 years: One 10ml (5ml + 5ml) dose 3 times in 24 hrs

    Doses should be given every 6 - 8 hours. Leave at least 4 hours between doses. Do not take more than the recommended dose in 24 hours. For children above 6 months, if symptoms persist after 3 days or worsen, consult your doctor.

  • Who is this medicine not suitable for?

    Do not give Nurofen for Children suspension to children under 3 months old.

    Do not give Nurofen for Children suspension to children who are taking other NSAID medications, such as aspirin or naproxen.

    Do not give Nurofen for Children suspension to children who are taking blood thinners.

    If your child is taking any other medications, please talk to your doctor or pharmacist before giving them Nurofen for Children suspension.

    Nurofen for Children suspension is not suitable for children who are allergic to ibuprofen or any of the other ingredients in the medicine. It is also not suitable for children who have the following medical conditions:

    • Asthma
    • Kidney disease
    • Liver disease
    • Stomach ulcers
    • Bleeding disorders
    • Heart disease
    • High blood pressure
    • Dehydration
